Students and staff at The Derwen School had a day full of activities inspired by the famous British story writer.
Roald Dahl was a British novelist, short story writer, poet, screenwriter, and he was even a pilot. His birthday was in September so in his memory, Roald Dahl day is celebrated nationwide in September every year.
The day started off with an assembly in the canteen, Mr Wonka (Mr Glaves) introduced the day and then everyone had a movie morning in the canteen watching Charlie and the Chocolate factory. Snacks and drinks were provided throughout the film.
Everyone felt very welcomed by the host for the morning – BTP (BW the Pirate).
The lunch menu was delicious, with some ‘snozzcumbers’ and a ‘frobscottle’ (this causes ‘whizzpoppers’!)
After lunch, the celebrations continued with Roald Dahl activities in classrooms, which included colouring, drawing, reading, poem-writing and listening to audio films.
It’s safe to say everyone had a Whoopsy-Whiffling time!
